McConnell bristled when Brennan confronted him about endorsing Trump despite denouncing him on the Senate floor a few years ago, as other reporters have also tried to do in recent weeks.
“You need to get better research. I was asked that question three years ago, if he were the nominee would I support him, and I said ‘yeah,’ because the voters of my party across the country have made a decision. As the Republican leader of the Senate, obviously I’m going to support the nominee of our party,” he explained.
I’m honestly living in a constant state of horror that fully half (at the very, very least) of the politicians we have in this goddamn country are either fully and willfully ignorant of the process by which the NSDAP rose to power in 1930s Germany, or understand the situation and are actively aiding and abetting the Trumpians.
It’s not even ignorance, it’s by design. They’ve even outlined their plans online: https://www.project2025.org/
Yeah, I’ve seen that, and I’m also floored that this isn’t just broadcast everywhere, always. They fucking published their playbook for anyone to look at… and hardly anyone can be bothered to fucking look. And even then, a lot of people dismiss it as sensationalism.
Willful ignorance is a hell of a drug.
I’m also floored that this isn’t just broadcast everywhere, always.
Unfortunately The people who own our media would be doing much better for themselves under that plan.
CNN and NYT were both bought out by billionaires that support Trump.
That’s why every time Trump says or does something incredibly asinine you always see an article about why it’s “bad news for Biden”.
My dude. They are not only aware, they are hoping for their own version to happen.
Nah we’ll just control him once he’s in power it’ll be fine
Eh you’re probably right. What’s the worst that could happen?
should have ended with a bullet 30 years ago
I keep hoping he falls down the stairs.
Should have ended on his father’s tissues. Of course, it all happened long enough ago that he’d probably have to invent the damn things but I’d happily live in a world where they’re referred to as McConnells instead of Kleenex.
The title of the article implies that he’s going out kicking and screaming. But the reality is that he’s completely powerless. He says as much admitting that at this point, he couldn’t stop Trump from being the nominee. He had a chance to do the right thing during the impeachment trials, but slunk away into his removed little turtle shell. Now it’s too late.
Anyone who thought he might have done anything other than what he did in the impeachments was clearly asleep for the Gorsuch and Barrett confirmations.
