In games like DnD and Pathfinder, almost anyone can heal themselves, and even NPC could just buy a potion and heal up, but curses are a bit harder to get away from. So here comes the Anti-Curse Hospitals! Helping them with something they cannot just buy their way out!
This gave me an idea for a character: A medical student who’s after a prestigious placement at the anti-curse hospital, and begrudgingly turns to adventuring because they have to break X number of curses as part of their practicum.
That’s a very cool idea! Could be a bet lost against an old friend a stubborn doctor decides to accept too
This is touching on the really inflexible damage system in DND. My games tend to have real hospitals/clinics for dealing with the wounded and sick in a way that can’t really be expressed with the DND hit point system. This is fine for my games though, usually this kind of medical care is addressed through roleplay and outside of combat. NPCs often get wounded in a way where a healing potion or spell will only stabilize and will not make whole.
