Adding tinder into your box of HDDs sounds delightful. Make sure to keep a packet of marshmallows handy!
Fuck me, it’s probably the first time I’ve seen carpentry and hard disks together, and I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I’ve seen wood parts inside a PC.
This is fascinating, almost crossing from DIY to WHY territory.
How are the pencils secured in the last picture?
They look like they’re not sharpened and most likely the PC case is on the floor. Looks like the pencils might be being used to measure, but not sure.
Looks awesome! One thing I would add is some vibration dampening.
How do you plan on connecting them?
I think I would hot glue the drives in. With the right orientation overheating drives eject themselves :D
I think those are #2 pencils - wash your hands after handling them!
This needs the tag #DIWHY.
Anyone knows if there is any project for a modular NAS? Have been looked into it for a while but without success
This may come as a disappointment but PCs make for excellent modular NASes.
Ye you are right but I was talking of 3D enclosures where you can put a zimaboard or whatever mini pc.
