Multiple people have claimed to have verified this. I’m not going to use my account to do so, but feel free to give it a try if you want to risk it.

why are people sitll using FB? ITS KNOWN to push mostly right wing propaganda as a source of “news”, basically its a more censored version of X.

This was all over bluesky yesterday. Journalists reported seeing this themselves. I was waiting for a news report. It seems meta may have removed this censorship.

Meta is a horrible company, but in an attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt, try searching without the word “mega”

Megaupload can host all sorts of illegal things, so maybe that keyword is triggering it.

This would be a large and obvious escalation of meta’s support for fascism if true and it’s also very fakeable. I could believe it, but I’d need to see some people to verify.

I searched DDG for “el Salvador news censored by meta” and again but “by meta on Facebook” and got nothing, but that’s not so unexpected. Where were these people who claimed to verify it?

I don’t have FB or I’d check myself.

Tested with a US VPN. Can confirm it only happens when using a US breakout. You guys are in much more trouble than even the most pessimistic among you are able to grasp at this point.

I think you underestimate how pessimistic many of us are. People I talk to in stores or at work are grim.

Most humans don’t take drastic action until they or someone sufficiently close to them is directly hurt. We can think of this as a moral failing or we can acknowledge that it’s a witnessable fact about our species and do our best to plan around it.

The political system laid out by the constitution was supposed to prevent us getting here. But it’s always been pretty shit, so no surprises that it failed to prevent this and is failing to stop it.

I tried it on a mobile Firefox browser and it worked normally. American account and without a VPN.

How the fuck did they tie this to child sexual abuse?

    This is absolute batshit insanity.

I have a weird feeling that automatic CSAM flaggers have been already weaponized against the truth.

Remember a Trump clip that was allegedly disappeared from the internet? If it ever existed, then its now in the CSAM autoflagging databases.

You’re right. They knew this was going to be a thing, so they started filtering searches for sega mega drive last year!

The sight “megauploads” is largely just a CP database at this point, and is likely a case of automatic flagging. Searching for “el Salvador prison” for instance doesn’t yield the same result. Meta is a bad company, but this seems incidental.
