First of, Trump is not a Republican. He is Trump. Secondly, Trump has had since his first mandate a nefarious effect in politics worldwide, and he is in part why the far-right and nationalistic movements across the globe, are also rising, through the spread of misinformation on the Internet, that transcend US borders. While I was very well aware that there was a thing like anti-vaxxers in the US, that was never a problem here in Europe, and the rise of misinformation, with the pandemic, and with Trump and the MAGA movement, that became a thing now here, along with other conspiracies on Facebook, like the “Moon landing being a staged hoax”. Retired boomers, that have nothing better to do all day, gobble up that shit as if it is ambrosia!

You overestimate his supporters long term memory. You’re still only 6 months in, still 3.5 years left to go. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

I find it too creepy… can’t stand looking at it. It’s like the love child of Chucky and M3GAN, turned into a cheap inflatable sex doll. It’s nightmare fuel, if you ask me!
Gaylactus@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•European Commission preparing token gesture for angry gamers and game developersEnglish1·1 day agoI’m not sure if this is sarcasm or not… You are aware that, the EU has been famously known for applying huge penalty fines to big tech companies, including Google and Apple, and that even Valve, was targeted for an antitrust lawsuit, that lost?
Are you also aware that the EU forced Apple to standardized their power cables to use USB-C only, which caused Apple to lose a fair amount of money, because now they will profit less from selling licenses to cable manufacturers. The license costs $99, which is really nothing special but for each connector, the cable manufacturer has to pay Apple $4. This is a huge business for Apple, and that the EU completely shot down.
The decreased cable lifespan prompted people to buy new cables more often, generating more profit for Apple. Additionally, Apple earned money by licensing third-party manufacturers who wanted to sell cables under the “Made for iPhones” (MFi) program. The commission and licensing fees constituted a significant portion of Apple’s cable-related revenue, totalling a substantial 10 billion dollars
Did you knew that in the EU, the minimum warranty for any electronic device, is at least 3 years, which can be even higher depending on each member state own laws? From your perspective, this alone, might represent a 200% decrease in revenue, when compared to countries that only provide a 1 year warranty. How is this being pro corporations?
I will say this in the most respectfully way I can, but you’re full of shit.

She only released a message later on, after the huge backlash she received, for the interview she gave. She stated she would not endorse any party but would vote for Harris. I don’t have any issue if she is not endorsing anyone, she has no obligation to. But considering she’s a role model and an idol for many in the LGBTQ+ community and specially trans folks, I found her “both sides” comment idiotically stupid and cognitively dissonant. That’s what pissed me off. Now, LGBTQ+ folks, are seeing the result of that “bothsidism”.
Also why I kinda disconnected myself from US politics… I look at memes, laugh and that’s it! I no longer have the mental bandwidth to have discussions with people that think that defending such comments are in any way conductive to progress their own rights.
Yes I agree with you… Can’t tell you how much I have argued with my fellow members in the LGBTQ+ community over the dumbass comments Chapell Roan or whatever is her name made just prior to the election. I think there are certainly reasons to why democrats should be criticized, but the “bothsidism” is just a false equivalence.

I still don’t understand your argument, because unless you are watching a heavily edited video, you still need to watch all the “grinding”. I also find grinding enjoyable… it falls under the obsessive compulsive in me., so I just rather grind myself! =)
While you are right, Trump allowed that shit to be amplified and legitimizing it. The republicans (at least the more sensible ones) always knew that part of their electorate was into rabid conspiracies, but they would at least town things down, and did not allowed that shit to get much traction. With Trump, that become their bread and butter. Alternative facts, fake news, and all that shit!
