  • I see you cited environmental allergies, which means airborne pollen or fungal spores etc. Personally, while I generally avoid medications, and hate the drowsiness from Benadryl (and the dementia), Allegra works great for me. Lasts about a day, is very effective, and there are no noticeable side effects.

I also have food allergies. For that, I read labels, and ask questions at restaurants. I’m allergic to tree nuts (pecans, almonds, cashews, basically everything called a nut that isn’t a peanut) but not peanuts. Thankfully most dishes which have tree nuts tend to call them out in the title or description. Allergens from a list of 8 (9?) are required to be bolded or listed as an allergen in the US for packaged foods. I pay attention to “may contain” or “produced on equipment/in a facility that…” warnings, but note that in the US, those are optional.

  • Some trump lackey was on a TV show saying that having an ACA policy and not using it was clearly fraud as it was “statistically impossible”. … As we and anyone who understands insurance knows, those are the people who pay for the ones who do have to use it. Healthy people, particularly men, don’t go to the doctor for preventative care or generally unless they have to, but with the abusive horror of pricing in the US system, they must have insurance to make it less likely they are financially destroyed by an unexpected illness or accident. So, the Trump heathens know they’re lying, and just want to undermine the ACA because one, they want Americans to suffer and die apparently and two, OBAMA.

  • Easy to guess: Democrat wants to restrict it and make sure they’re not poisoning people, Republican wants to say some stupid shit about how great it is to frack. Ok, read article…

Surprise! Dr. Acton wants exactly that. A libertarian candidate does also. They both oppose fracking in state parks while the Republican candidate (oh fuck, it’s Ramaswamy) says it was “good news” when the state approved fracking in more than 15,000 acres of Ohio’s public land over the summer. At least, Ohio requires 30% of revenue from the lease agreement to go back to improve the state park. Who is negotiating the lease agreement, though? Ramaswamy says open the topic of fracking at parks:

It’s great for nature. It’s great for our ability to enjoy our natural gifts, enjoy our state parks, while also enjoying the fruits of the natural resources that are underneath them

As usual, you’d have to either stand to make money from it or be a complete idiot to vote for a republican.
