A copy of Pokemon Yellow I got when I was a little kid. My dad bought a gameboy bag that had a few games in it for like $5 from his coworker. Pokemon was basically my childhood, I loved playing it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You randomly get a free 50k no catch what do you do with it?
3·14 days agoStart building a house and fix some of the issues on my vehicles. If there’s any left over then save it for emergencies.
No, not currently. I’ve pretty much been getting by with Lemmy and substituting with Reddit where needed. Believe it or not, Lemmy has grown a lot within the past year or two. I think it will eventually get to a decent spot but that may take a while longer.
Ooh, I’d love something like this too. There’s a creepypasta community but it doesn’t have frequent posts unfortunately.
Sleeping with one ear open haha. Their hearing is incredible. I’ve tried holding my breath and slowly tip toeing and mine still hears me somehow.
Help, my mind is caught in a paradoxical loop!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmings who order cheese pizzas, have you always just ordered cheese pizzas or is that something that happened with age?
9·17 days agoI’ve always liked cheese pizza. It’s just that I was never able to order it before. My family would always get meat lovers or veggie pizza and I always had to pick everything off. Now that I’m all growed up I can order my own cheese pizza! I wish that was worth the tradeoff of being an adult but eh you’ve got to take what small victories life gives you.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What have you completely stopped buying because the price has gotten ridiculus?
8·17 days agoYou bet! If you only need to get it working on your home network then it’s really easy. The Jellyfin website has great documentation on the process and there are also great YouTube videos as well. It’s pretty much download the program and tell it where to look for the files, then visit the localhost link it gives you and bam you’re golden.
If you also want to be able to access it from outside of your home network then things get can get a bit tricky and you will need to set up a reverse proxy of some kind (Caddy, Nginx, Pangolin, etc).

237·18 days agoStreaming services of any kind. I’ve got a jellyfin server now that has everything I need.
It was fine when they were $5 a month, but this $20 a month bullshit is insane. And what do you mean I can’t share one account with the family if we’re not on the same network, get real.

11·22 days agoTo be clear, that is a google requirement that SearXNG must follow for the service to work correctly.

Privacy@lemmy.world•Big Tech Can't Track This Search Engine (SearXNG)English
16·22 days agoJust recently set up SearXNG for myself and I’m loving it as well. Although, do be aware, it sends your IP address and search query to google/bing/etc so I recommend setting it up to use a VPN or VPS to help mask your IP. In theory, google could build a profile on you based on that information alone.
If you don’t want to self host it there are also public instances that you can join. However, you’re trusting your data to the server owners, whoever they are.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•just got an unexpected 1k refund... what should I do with it?
2·25 days agoMhmm, 18TB HDD 🤤
Completely none of my business, but what does someone use a hard drive that big for? Does it come with insurance or a warranty? It seems like it would really suck if that broke.
To answer your question and add onto the pile, I would say pay off debt unless the savings interest rate is better than the debt interest rate (it usually never is).
Wow, I was really not expecting us to get this far into the weeds in this thread but I suppose I should have lol

Linux@programming.dev•Finally done with the distro-hop: My return to Fedora
30·29 days agoI honestly think it’s the best distro so far. Which sucks since it is so reliant on RedHat. I prefer to avoid corporate related distros like Fedora and Ubuntu, but I must admit they have a better experience right out of the box. I still want to give NixOS a try and maybe Gentoo, but after that I will probably come back to Fedora just like you…until something I think might be better comes along.

A hardcore dinosaur survival game. You’re a primitive human on a randomly generated island full of dinosaurs. Your only weapons are spears, clubs, bows, etc., no guns. You can’t have the dinos as mounts or pets, you are trying to survive them in their domain. The goal is to survive and build a base that can provide you with enough protection to continue surviving while exploring the mysteries of the island where you can. I imagine it would be quite difficult to do this.
