Imo, sexually explicit images and videos should go to a dedicated NSFW community, as we already have several yiff communities on this instance which are actively maintained. So if there is a policy put in place, I’d opt to bar outright pornographic imagery from this community, leaving just safe stuff, and sort of suggestive or double entendre jokes and the like.

This has lit a fire under me, I’m gonna gesture so many words! Sucks that I have to download the proprietary library—I entirely stopped gesture typing because of that—but this is for the greater good. I’ll exclusively use it for this data collection, and nothing else. Hopefully the word spreads, and we get a massive data set which makes a great FOSS gesture library on mobile possible.

Okay, challenge accepted. As characters such as spaces and general punctuation are allowed, I can encode letters using binary and you can decipher them. Codex: E is 1, . is zero. A space signifies one number has terminated, and another has begun. A hyphen will denote the ending of a word.

Alright, how about a fun task to blow an hour—avoiding any fifth glyphs. It’s basic, but will stop you in your tracks for a bit if unfamiliar. Jot down about your your day, possibly an upcoming situation, and do it with good grammar, spanning a paragraph or so. Now you’ll sit stuck on this, and look full of focus! The current sidebar has virtually no rules, and the only other mod of the community basically hasn’t been around for two years. It’s safe to say this place needed a new moderator, and an active poster is certainly a good choice. Thanks for deciding to pick up the mantle!

Now that I’ve looked over the situation, I’d consider maybe codifying some simple rules, and including them in the sidebar and a pinned post. Currently the only thing the Furry sidebar says is “we’re vaguely pro AI posting,” which I don’t think is the best position for a general art community, nor one I’ve ever seen community members be interested in using.

That’s wonderful to hear! I think it being so hard to make a list is part of why it’s a thing, so that different people can all positively talk about different projects that help them, and even just about developing free software in general. It’s just nice to hear you’re appreciated, and they absolutely are!

Proprietary DAWs? By that I have to imagine you mean FL Studio, I don’t think anything really holds a candle to that, especially because I’d also have to include the myriad of propetary plugins too (even if you can technically use them with free software). I’ve used it to make a few simple jingles and whatnot for myself, and also to just jam on my MIDI keyboard, which is really all I need anyway. Zrythm is a bit more robust with plugin support, but the 1.0 release is certainly rough around the edges at the moment.

I do largely just install things, but I like to go to source pages, about pages, try and get a feel for the vibes, and ensure it is actually free software before I use it. It just set off a red flag and I wrote it off; maybe the software is great and there’s nothing to worry about, I dunno.

Yes, that’s correct, I have a flashed Pixel 8 Pro. As for LMMS, because it was freely available to download, along with Zrythm. When I looked at Ardour last, the message I got was they were a little antagonistic to building binaries from source from the display messages, it put me off. I don’t mind paying for binaries, but the scary messages about not to do it, and that they actively don’t keep the build pages up to date with what you might need? Eh.

As someone who loves puns and other dad joke type humor, puns feel very much situational and a part of improv. They’re great in the moment when you quickly think of something that gets the crowd groaning, but I can’t just dig them up with no buildup and get that same feeling.

For example, I could tell you ten random puns without context to try and make you laugh, but more than likely, “no pun in ten did.”
