Fairphone is interesting, never have seen any demos nor am I savvy to validation methods that the device is operating in the promised modality. I.e it’s not sending traffic places it shouldn’t, battery management algorithms aren’t mutable, memory allocation…

These are all things I wonder how the dials themselves are designed. As in, how would a designer know which design rules work for trace layouts, board schematics, etc?
