Have a battery that stores the surplus electricity for later use. That’s pretty standard for solar installations.

Eh, DLSS maybe, but they’ve been quite critical of UE5, especially its stutter issues. On the contrary, they’re always happy when something isn’t UE5.
Yeah, parts of it may have traumatized me, but I ultimately also quite liked the show as a child. I’m sure it helped me empathize with the suffering of wild animals and gave me an early idea of why we should protect the environment.
It definitely wouldn’t fly as a kids show today, but I think it’s an interesting discussion to have when and how much kids’ media should explore darker topics. Ultimately the show was still very tame compared to some of the books my parents got to read as kids, which included things like kids getting ground up in a mill for playing a prank or getting their thumbs cut off for sucking on them.
That’s GBA/PS2 era, definitely retro.
“The Animals of Farthing Wood”. It’s a cartoon about a group of animals who try to find a new home after humans destroy their forest. Many of them die horrible deaths along the way. Still vividly remember the hedgehog family being run over on the motorway. And yes, it was a kids show!

It’s probably gonna turn all characters into AI Anime Waifus.

Can’t believe DF is so positive about this, just looks horrible. I’ve actually been quite positive about technologies like DLSS and FSR but this… no thanks.
I think you forgot a question.
I think you’ll be heavily affected by AI in that field as well. From possibly having LLMs as a first level support agent (already common in corporate customer support) to having to help people who messed up their PCs by letting their AI agents have full access etc.

No empire lasts forever and I think the US’ is already in decline. A large part of America’s global power is its network of allies and Trump is doing massive damage to those relations. Places like Europe are pushing for more independence and self-sufficiency. The Gulf states are being bombed thanks to America starting a war - no doubt they’ll rethink their relations somewhat after that. At the same time, China’s power and network of allies is steadily growing, without them starting wars left and right. So even if the US elects a sane president again, I think the damage will have been done. They will never be as trusted by their allies as they had been in the post-WW2 world order and they will steadily lose their global influence.

What helped a lot for me with the camera was installing one of the unofficial GCam ports (BSG). Using that, it takes quite decent photos (with the regular lens, ultrawide is still pretty bad). Only problem is that the live camera view is oddly laggy, both on GCam and the built-in app. Hopefully that can be fixed with a software update at some point.

There is no link, this is an image post. Anyway, “No Updates” is interesting when the next post on the community is about the latest software update.
I’m pretty new to fairphones, so obviously I can’t speak to the longetivity aspect yet. But so far, I’m quite happy with the hardware and performance. Does everything I need it to and with great battery life. Having looked on their store, I also don’t find the spare parts overpriced.

In the short term, we should probably focus on fixing our problems on earth. Some space research should still be funded, but not as a major priority. Once we finally have our shit together, we can start exploring the stars.

Kia EV3. It’s generally nice and I don’t want a different one. But I’d prefer not to drive a car if that were practical for me right now.

Probably Middle Earth/The Lord of the Rings. (1937-2026)
I really liked how the 48fps version of the Hobbit looked (even though the movies themselves were mediocre).

For me, they’re just a nice to have. I don’t actively chase them or anything, but it’s sometimes neat to see when I did a thing that only 1% of players managed to do. I personally don’t care that they’re public. If I did, I imagine I’d have a private Steam profile anyway, so the achievements would be a moot point. I don’t see a meaningful difference between publishing my achievements and my other game activity like play times.

Not regularly or often, but yes. It’s actually legal from the age of 14 here (under parental supervision and only lower-alcohol stuff like beer). So I’d have a bit here or there for special occasions like New Year’s Eve. From the age of 16 you’re allowed to drink unsupervised. At that point some of my classmates already got drunk regularly. I never liked alcohol (or rather its effects) that much though and to this day I’ve never been drunk. These days I might drink something like a glass of wine every few weeks or so.

There’s a Pokemon fan forum that I originally joined around 2004 I believe. They’ve had a relaunch since then, so my current account is “only” from 2009 though. I’m still ocassionally active on there, along with like 5 other users.
Not sure if I want to play a “non-gay” racing game.
