I think it’s simply because more people use mastodon and lemmy, so there’s more incentive to work on them, and there are a lot more contributors to development.

A lot of older bands that have declined in popularity over the years play for rich people at private parties.

Love how they use “lend” then act surprised that they owe money. Unless they have their own magical definition of “lend”, which wouldn’t be surprising.

scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When do you finally calm down after buying a house?English4·18 hours agoJust got past 1 year ownership of a new build and had the 1-year warranty inspection done and worked with the builder to do the repairs. I think it has only started to calm down now, as we’ve finally experienced one year of living in the house and we now know what to expect throughout the year. Except for emergencies and major unexpected issues of course.
I would definitely jam in a band with three of my other selves. We’ll be able to make music pretty quickly because we literally have the same minds.

Usually it goes away in a day or until uBO catches up and deploys an update.

Why do I need a SIM card to enable a hotspot whereas every other phone works without one?English11·2 days agoI really hate how mobile hotspot is considered separate from regular data. It’s the same especially if your mobile speeds are are capped anyway. It’s like dental not being included in your health insurance as if your teeth aren’t part of your body.
scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What communities or instances do you have blocked to make your Lemmy experience more enjoyable?61·2 days agoI don’t have any. I instead subscribe to as many communities I find interesting and set my feed to only my subscriptions. I rarely venture out to All and only do when I want to discover more communities.
I use a thick pillow to hug and a folded blanket for my head. The blanket’s thickness can be customized to fit. The real problem is in hotels were both pillows are usually huge, so it’s literally a pain in the neck.
scytale@lemmy.zipto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is twingyeo.kr? Why can’t I go on the site?English8·3 days agoFound this: https://github.com/sponsors/twingyeo-kr.
A quick translation says:
Hello, twingyeo.kr is a Mastodon instance operated by Team Onstables Co., Ltd. Currently, in order to create a ‘space where everyone can rest comfortably’, our instance is covering all operating costs with the income from the software development sector of Team Unstablers Co., Ltd., the main operator, without any means of generating profits such as advertising.
Maybe the instance is down that’s why it’s unreachable.
scytale@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•The world could experience a year above 2°C of warming by 2029English29·3 days agoThe heat index in my city right now as I type this comment is 42C/107F. And summer is just starting. This is gonna suck.
As someone who took the plunge and moved halfway across the world, this comment really resonates with me and I understand your perspective. But hey, maybe Dubai can be a stepping stone instead of a final destination. Once you establish yourself there and (hopefully) earn enough (that you otherwise won’t be able to do in your home country), you can probably try to explore moving to a third country if the dream doesn’t go away. Good luck!
No wonder most websites look terrible on desktop now and are designed for mobile.
