There’s a real crucial difference between wanting to follow someone’s instructions because you want to make them happy, and being compelled to follow instructions by someone you don’t really care about.

I would do absolutely anything for my gf without a scrap of complaint, most anybody else gets “fuck that, you can do it yourself, you’re capable”.

  • Yeah, cishet dude with long hair, I’ve been using women’s hair products for decades. They’re straight up just better in 99% of cases.

I am kind of partial to the male-coded body washes though, I do like wood scents. I usually use a nice sandalwood gel. But for hair stuff yeah basically all men’s products are garbage. You can sort of get away with it if you keep your hair chopped short but anything approaching shoulder length or longer, just save yourself the hassle and go to the women’s aisle.

  • Thing is, I really don’t care if it’s just PR, so long as that PR involves taking good actions.

It’s the same way how a fear of eternal damnation and hellfire does not by default make you a good person, but it can cause you to perform the same actions as a genuinely good person would. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you were really feeling it or not, as long as you acted like a good person.

I feel the same way about the rich. I don’t really care if you really want to be a good person or not. If some billionaire’s entire philanthropic history revolves around strictly just not wanting to get eaten by the peasants, that’s fine by me. I don’t really care if you really love trans kids in your heart of hearts, but if you donate some of your money to helping them, it keeps you off my dinner menu for another day.

We can’t expect the rich to be good people at heart, because that doesn’t really ever happen (with some VERY rare and VERY special exceptions), but we can compel “good” behavior out of them if they fear the unwashed masses. For me, that’s good enough for most cases.

  • As with all things, there are a small handful of genuinely brilliant pieces of art, and a ton of derivative crap.

The good ones are some of the best media I have ever consumed and have left me with feelings that last far past the credits roll.

Like 90% of them though I watch one episode and then quit or else never start watching it because you can just tell it’s ass by looking at the preview. In that way I don’t really see it as that much different than ‘proper’ movies. Some of them are really good! A lot of them aren’t. Some people like to go through the pile and find the ones that are good to share with the rest of us. Some people just really like watching the shitty ones, too.
