A lot of us grew up with shitty parents, had to figure out survival on our own as teenagers. I don’t blame them. People fuck up tons of important things, especially being parents. They’re just other irresponsible people that don’t have their own lives figured out. You win by being better than they were, figuring out your own shit and living better lives. Sometimes you just have to get out at 18 and figure shit out for yourself. It’s not the end of the world and people have been doing that for a very long time.

It’s a little sad to me when people get super obsessive about prison planet theory and think we’re trapped in some sort of actual physical hell. These people have looked at all the good in life and considered it an illusion, then found all the worst and most pessimistic theories and believed it to be proven fact.

Life can get rough but that raw existential fear is what feeds the worst in this world. It’s better to just accept go with the flow.

I didn’t think we’d have this problem with AI. I also didn’t realize we’d train it with tons of fiction that includes scifi with AI going haywire and killing humans, then making decisions based on its continuation of text.

I feel like there’s an easy fix here, where the bureaucracy of a fantasy city could be either so slow or just non existent that this wouldn’t matter.

I know the reference but just fyi, this was not nearly as common as claimed and not responsible for a lot of witch trial stuff. For grain to give you hallucinations, it has to be rye grain and in a cold and wet climate, which ergot specifically would grow in. Then the rye grain itself would grow big black visible horns, and they would still need to not discard that obvious contaminated grain and grind it into flour. Then that flour was eaten, and they hallucinated. And it fucked up your veins and gave you black limbs often too.

There’s often not great evidence for this phenomenon unless they are in a cold and damp area growing rye, and report the medical issues on top, black limbs.
