I have experienced the fatigue toward the end of the day. After a full day of work, I would be depleated. Before figuring out I’m autistic, my wife would call me before I left work to come home, and ask me to stop at the store for something she needed. I was always resistant to make that stop, and now I understand why.

No, she not neurotypical. I’m not fully sure what her story is, but she’s mentioned being atypical, divergent, and having anxiety issues. It’s pretty good having a counselor that is divergent. My previous counselor wasn’t, but his wife worked with autistic kids in the high school, so he must have some knowledge, but it felt like there was a slight miss on the specific autistic perspective. I’m not sure if someone that isn’t atypical would have the perspective I’m looking for in counseling. It probably depends on the counselor, and I don’t know how you would determine that without going to the counselor.
I am older, and don’t think I need any accommodations or help, so I didn’t think a full evaluation would be of any value. I took some online tests, and chatted with other autistic people, and determined I’m autistic. I’m seeing a counselor figuring out what is in me due to being autistic, and what am I masking. Focusing on discovering and understanding. This path has revealed things in relationship with my wife, we have a better understanding of our differences.
I had my first appointment with an autism (aware) counselor. I was very nervous/anxious, but it went very well. I only recently realized that I’m autistic, and this was a big step, and I think seems helpful.

Start here and see where this takes you. This is what I did. I’m older and don’t see a reason for a full eval. I’ve also been reading and searching to see if some things I do are autistic. If you aren’t sure, start here, or find some other online tests.
I didn’t consider that I am on the spectrum until my son and then wife told me I could be. That started my investigation. I also don’t have obvious outward characteristics, but I’ve been hiding it since I was in 3rd grade. Lots of things on my head and concealed.
I’m in the US. Not a formal diagnosis, but tested on embrace autism, and a few other sites. I’m the multiple retakes I get very close to the same results. I’ve talked with my wife (surprising to her the many things I do and things that she had no idea about) and son, and I’ve talked with a counselor (going regularly now). For me, I don’t see the value of a neuro psych eval.
60! Just now talking the time to figure out what it all means.
Embrace-Autusm.com had a test, I’ve taken it 3 or 4 times in the past 2 years, pretty close to the same results each time. I read an article that said to try different evaluations to get a better result. I tried 3 more tests online and get matching results. One reported something like autistic behaviors it something like that, heading their bet. Most ended says only a psychiatrist can make an actual diagnosis. I’m happy with the results I have. It has helped me figure out myself some, and I’ve gotten a little understanding from my wife, now that we can identify issues in having an being related to being autistic (it doesn’t stop arguments, but we get to a point of understanding quicker when my perspective is so different from hers).
