*please note i deeply value and respect the vegan movement. i am just critical of how humorously it precipitates in online spaces, particularly this one. :)

    It’s not only in US politics where I see the toxicity, though. I’ve seen a lot more people saying transphobic stuff lately for example, mostly but not always from lemmy.world users. My best guess is that the right-wing lemmy instances shut down every time they get blocked by enough big lemmy instances, and each time, some of their users move to lemmy.world since it’s too big to be moderated as effectively as smaller instances

      I really wish that wasn’t related to US politics but it totally is.

      Right-wing trolls (legit and troll farms) trying to sow chaos and left-wing mods and users on edge and easily upset = Lemmy rn

      It was similar in 2016 on Reddit amongst left leaning subs

        it might be, but i’m from the UK and even in UK lemmies like !uk_politics@feddit.uk I see a lot of the same stuff. uk politics as a whole is fairly trans phobic, though.
