    It’s not even just coups and direct or indirect control. Even if we have a fully independent government in, let’s say African country, it wouldn’t be able to compete with Western countries on free market terms because, as the videogame quote goes, “the game was rigged from the start”.

    Colonial countries put the plundered resources to good use to strengthen their power, so for every depleted mine, for every empoverished family etc. in a third world country there is a factory or an office or a research facility in the first world.

    The only way to win a rigged game is not to play it at all, and leading capitalist powers do everything they can to make this not an option.
