Even removing Leopold statues or street names is a highly sensitive subject here
Belgium whitewashing of their history is unmatched. It’s known as a cute little country that makes tasty beers, chocolate, fries and waffles. That they killed millions of Congolese people isn’t know to many. Even I, a Dutch person, didn’t know about this until a year after I moved here.
Belgium sure has more revolutionary potential. Our marxist party is far bigger than anything happening in The Netherlands. And The Netherlands is a much harder neoliberal place.
But The Netherlands is more modern. The houses are better, the roads are better, it seems more ahead of Belgium in a lot of ways. Still, moving here was a great decision. I feel at home, I have found comrades, I like the people and doing party work (and soon I’ll start working at the Union) and I’m happy. It got me out of my usual place at home and it made me learn a lot about myself. Overall, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Was moving in Belgium a good choice, how is it there?
I thought Netherlands is better(definitely not for obvious reasons).
