I read a comic published from 1983 or so where tony stark was drunk and erratic. He absolutely isn’t modeled after musk. He’s got the charm of a wet box. Rdj’s ironman precense is always felt for better or worse, musk has the charisma of a soggy loaf of bread
Tony Stark was always a shit character, the only storyline that was good was Demon in a Bottle. It’s amazing that a B-lister Marvel superhero got so famous.
I think I gave myself a dare. It was the height of the Cold War. The readers, the young readers, if there was one thing they hated, it was war, it was the military … So I got a hero who represented that to the hundredth degree. He was a weapons manufacturer, he was providing weapons for the Army, he was rich, he was an industrialist … I thought it would be fun to take the kind of character that nobody would like, none of our readers would like, and shove him down their throats and make them like him … And he became very popular.
Stan Lee was a huge capitalist, no wonder he’d make such a character. I think it’s telling as to the current state of affairs that for the last ten years one of the most popular media characters was a incorrigible bastard billionaire that sold weapons for war.
yeah uhh and i’m not a comic person but even i know he was created by Stan Lee long before Elon was a thing… like 70s 80s during Vietnam. am i missing something? is movie stark considered separate from comics stark? is this actually a good troll by Elon for once?

Tony Stark in the comics is definitely less of an asshole than the RDJ movie version, but only by a modicum. Tony Stark is just an asshole period.
