I like how you can tell Trump wrote these because they preserved his Boomer Capitalization.

These are great, I’m laughing my ass off. But I do wonder who they are actually for? It’s just some basic vague summaries of their presidencies with a Trumpian spin on them. Surely anyone working in the white house would have at least a passing interest in US history and would know how bullshit these all actually are.

I don’t think most of Trump’s actions are done out of vanity, but I feel like this one is. It also delineates an exact narrative for Republicans to believe

All he cares about is anticommunism, bravely pardoning criminal presidents, doing good wars (but not bad ones!), expanding the surveillance state, and beating literally all the democratic presidents. Economic downturns during republican presidencies aren’t their fault and upswings during democratic presidencies are coincidental

To humour himself. Trump has a massive ego, even by US president standards.

I gotta tell you. This is some of the first coherent story telling I’ve seen out of the white house. Finally someone’s doing some show-don’t-tell. You could read the plaque and get a sense of who Trump is before you ever reveal the character

    1. Right wing. As much is made clear in the first sentence

    2. The character is self-involved. The description of others is in relation to him.

    3. Has a flair for embellishment. It’s not all about the numbers for him. Landslide, high approval, spirit, will, capitalized-Historic run.

    4. Has an agenda. The bias is clearly laid out and ready to be metabolized by the audience.

You could (correctly) infer that a contemporary democrat would get less praise, if not a thumbs down in commemoration. You would infer that he likes to lie and misinform. If you were astute you’d sort of get that the whole narrative would revolve around a philosophical inquiry of post-truth and the unquestioning people who are galvanized to do harm by an asshole.

Long time fans of the series, of course, are wondering when the author is going to hurry up and do a communism because it’s a real Chekov’s gun for the whole situation. Otherwise barbarous hogs choking on CO2 makes for a really unsatisfying ending.

In the year 4389 archaeologists will unearth these plaques from the ruins of the palace complex in Washington DC. They will be considered a prime example of late American Empire epic poetry and inspire a neo-Americist aesthetic movement.

I typed out as many of the plaques as I could read earlier today. Maybe you could help me finish the list.

Abraham Lincoln “among America’s greatest presidents”

Isn’t he pretty much universally agreed to be the best president by historians and public opinion polls? The "greatest " is usually considered Mount Rushmore and FDR as a group, with Lincoln usually in first. Is Trump just saying “among the greatest” so he can try include himself amongst the top? Which would be funny because Trump’s first term is ranked as one of the worst.

Lincoln is the most popular #1 pick but there are definitely some people who say Washington and probably a few who say Reagan (and some who might say FDR, but I don’t think Trump would acknowledge them). And obviously many people who say Trump in order to please Trump.

Probably the bulk of it written by interns and he just added or edited that sentence at the end, judging by the capitalization of “Great”

Coworkers put more effort into making print out (on paper) saying one of our animals was out for the day then they did making this sign.
