Of course they’re still doing this “muh authoritarian regime” bullshit after Trump openly admitted that he wants to capture Venezuela’s natural resources. I hate journalists so much

it’s not sufficient to disqualify evil, but invading venezuela was 70-30 against late last year, and that was just americans. guessing this dipshit was in the 30% of bloodthirsty ghouls.

They maybe said that they were against invasion but come on, 95% of americans always fall in line when the war actually starts. “Oh I don’t like invasions but he was ebil diktator thank god we finalli brought freedom to the oppressed vuvuzelan people.”

the democrats are feckless as usual but with trump’s unpopularity and looking back at the strikes on iran i think you’re being mildly pessimistic about what the public sentiment would be for boots on the ground instead of whatever noriega ripoff last night was.

of course public opinion of a war has literally never mattered. trump showing they didn’t even need to bother with letting 9/11 happen or lying to the UN about shit i guess.

What do you know about Latin America? Well I’ve been to China before!

You can not call any country being invaded by the US authoritarian if that country has a lower per capita prison population.

It’s just completely fucking absurd. You instantly become a clown to me.

This guy thinks pepper is too spicy and has a panic attack if he sees a non-white person on the street. He still tells the story to everyone who will listen about the time he almost got “mugged” by a “thug” at a train station (he was actually just politely asked for money).

the last time the US successfully couped venezuela, the people rioted for weeks and the US had to capitulate. sadly i dont think that will happen this time. with the global rise of fascist violence and terrorism since then, it would not shock me at all if ms. nobel peace prize instructs the troops to open fire on protestors and the media will spin it as a “civil war taking place within venezuela instigated by maduro loyalists”

Tricky one - authoritarian? Technically true.

But what country wouldn’t enter a state of law and order if you had an invasion force on your coastline for 20 years? When multiple coups have been attempted supported by a foreign government? A foreign government that currently funds political yet ‘non governmental organisations’ for the opposition party in your country to the tune of millions of dollars when the average monthly wage in the country is $200? When that opposition party has repeated supported coups and foreign influence? When a country has repossessed billions of dollars of gold, and explicitly states it wants to strangle your economy until the country chokes? When there’s a 200 year old precedent of U.S invasion in the region? When the U.S is following the classic playbook for invasion?

You either roll over and have your country sold to the highest bidders, or you put the walls up. Look at any country in wartime. This is the only way to conceptualise this. Latin America has been at war with the U.S since the 1800’s.

So here’s my task for you all:

Ask an American how they’d feel if China had done even half of those things in America. How would the U.S react?
