Nate used to have such good and interesting guests. I really enjoyed a lot of the oil weirdos he used to have on, their perspective was interesting and also radicalizing - knowing how deeply the entire global economy relies on this shit is such a doompill.

I’ve fallen out of love with the guy though. He does so much capitalism apologia and has on wacky hippie types who are all about the “dark triad” and nonsense that has no bearing on our material trajectory. I should have expected as much from a former Goldman employee working in natural resources though. At least he’s comfy at his ranch in Montana.

I will probably watch this with a critical eye like I do all his content nowadays. It’s important to learn from your enemies.

How long ago is “used to”? I’ve listened to 2 episodes from last summer, those guests were a lefty permaculture guy and an outright communard who basically said “yes, liquidate the billionnaires”.

I stopped listening regularly over a year ago. For example, read between the lines of his interview with Jeremy Grantham and tell me where Nate’s true allegiances lie.

Hell, even in the episode that was linked here he and the guest bend over backwards accepting the fact that we have to do military build-up, like it’s a foregone conclusion. Anybody serious about the future of humanity would immediately slap that shit down.

As an aside, Capitalists can adopt permaculture aesthetics because it’s not a threat to them.
