Looks great! If you want to make the top rounder you could try using slabs or stairs

I thought about it but i think it wouldnt look very realistic so I didnt end up going through with it.
Maybe you could use a different block like pale oak or iron blocks? Observatories would have large telescopes poking through. But fair enough.
