So far from what I’ve seen, it’s not too horrible aside from a few zionists and a lot of rabid anti-shippers. There’s some pretty cool analysis posts on there and it was there that I found the BITE model for finding cults.
it’s the best option out of popular social media. no reels=no brainrot content, and it being relatively unpopular is good i think. also i get a lot of niche posts about 70s and 80s futuristic tech and a lot of cool original art posts. also recently i got interested if there where any leftist posters on tumblr and there are a few but theyre good. but i dont really use it since none of my friends are not using it
Tumblr has kept a bunch of fandoms alive that would have previously lived only on obscure forums and fanpages.
Like, Danny Phantom is somehow a thriving fandom on Tumblr. It’s been 19 years since the show concluded! Yet, they’re still churning out fanfic and fan art and head canons, and it was enough to actually get more material published by the original author as comics
People across the internet (including those on Tumblr) love complaining about Tumblr and talking about how it’s dead but it’s the only social media (if you can call it that) that I actually enjoy anymore other than the grad of course. Been there for like 14 years now and it’s still my preferred place to get memes, art, and discourse. I feel like half of all the popular memes of the past 10 years come from Tumblr.
They don’t try and shove ragebait down your throat nearly as much as twitter or facebook either.
You just have to make sure you follow the right people and be prepared to block a shit ton of zionists. But there are tons of cool socialists on there.
Shoutout to @read-marx-and-lenin, they always know their shit and put lib anons in their place.
it’s pretty good as long as you use it correctly
- only use the following tab
- use the block function freely
- only follow cool people and tags
It’s full of infuriating white liberals and TMAs lecturing you on transmisogyny not being real, has chased off its black userbase off etc etc and yet it’s ironically the least shitty option available atm.
tiktok feels the same way to me
