I’ve been getting into Cairn lately but I’ve also played or run a few others: Mausritter and Liminal Horror to be precise.

For those unfamiliar with it: Into the Odd and related games are rules lighy games that are similar to older games of D&D, but with less of a mechanical focus and more on creative problem solving. I recently ran an adventure called Tannic where they succeeded with no combat at all.

NSR, standing maybe for “new school revolution”, is a game design philosophy that uses some elements of OSR but doesn’t insist on mechanical compatibility with any old version of D&D and generally uses those games as a jumping off point for new ideas rather than something to stick to, is usually more rules light, and nobody can quite agree what it is except that we don’t want the bigots that lurk in some corners of the OSR community.
