May Day demonstrations are expected to draw crowds across the country on Friday, with organizers calling for a boycott of work, school and shopping to protest the Trump administration’s policies — and what activists describe as a billionaire takeover of government.

The “May Day Strong” protest events in various cities, ranging geographically from Boston to San Francisco, are meant to mark International Labor Day. They follow anti-Trump protests under the “No Kings” banner that organizers say have drawn millions of people nationwide.

Unlike the Labor Day celebrations in the U.S. each September, May 1 has traditionally been reserved as a day of protest. In the U.S., May Day goes back to the 19th century movement to establish an eight-hour workday at a time when it wasn’t unusual for Americans to work shifts of 12 hours or more.

A better protest would be to absolutely boycott one single company. Just pick one company and just completely shut them out. Pick a grocery store chain … just completely blank them out … or a clothing store brand, just completely block them … or a gas station chain, just shut them down.

Go about your regular shopping and spending … just avoid one company that everyone agrees on. Keep up the boycott until you drive that one company into the ground or just completely wipe them out.

Then move on to the next company … and keep doing it over and over again.

This way, everyone can keep up their habits of wanting to spend money on whatever they want. No one person would ever really be terribly inconvenienced. Most people would not notice any changes and everyone could go about doing what they always did with minor changes … but it would send a very strong message to every company out there what power people have over them.

This is why I come to threads about protesting. Ideas instead of removed and complaining. This is kinda genius ngl

Wasn’t everyone supposed to boycott Amazon, Microsoft, Walmart, Target, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Netflix, Paramount, EA, Ubisoft, Tesla, Ford, Goya, Heinz, J&J, P&G, JPMorgan, Bank of America…

Those boycotts are working out great.

I’m still waiting for all these protesters to actually vote. Time and again people will walk these protests and ask if they voted last election. You can guess what the answer is.

And I’m not talking about submitting a ballot where you go down the ballot with the same side. I’m talking about actually researching, look at the incumbents history, look at their voting record, look at what each candidate is actually saying. Just because they have a letter next to their name or because they paid off a union/political party for an endorsement doesn’t mean they have your interests in mind.

Not only that, but less than 70% vote in a general election. Probably less than 60% will vote in the midterms. Only 30% voted in my municipal elections last year. Americans are apathetic and don’t want to make time to vote. It’s stupidly easy. Early voting opens a month early, I’m literally going to go primary vote in a couple weeks ahead of it. I literally just pick a Saturday, wait most of the day and then vote.

Do I wish it was easier? Yes. Do I still think it’s easy enough for people to do it. Yes. There’s plenty of voting resources, but people don’t use them, because they can’t be bothered to research and out in any effort. Americans are lazy and apathetic and deserve whatever happens.
