I am browsing “new” to try and discover new communities to join but I am getting a lot of NSFW images despite having this turned off in the settings.
It looks like users are posting nsfw content but not adding the nsfw tag so the images show up in my stream.
They all seem to be coming from @lemmynsfw.com but from different users.
I see that I can block individual users but is there a way to block the @lemmynsfw.com instance?
If not is there another way to fix this problem?
I agree.
I’m definitely getting a massive hentai influx right now in new.
I would like to be able to Autohide posts from an instance at least at the app level.
This would be a useful feature rather than relying on an admin or mod to take care of the problem manually.
It seems like this is one area of a federated system that could be an advantage over a centralized system like reddit …if the feature is implemented that is.
I agree. Having to disable each community as they show up is annoying.
How to you disable each community in liftoff?
Click on the community, three dots top right and click block
We’re now looking at a simple solution to allow users to block instances: https://github.com/liftoff-app/liftoff/issues/371
I think the admin of the that instance said they’re going to begin to tackle this issue soon.
Jeroba allows blocking NSFW content, if that helps.
You can’t block an entire instance at this time but you can block a community, such ss !gonewild or !hentai
You’ll have to do it manually for each one that is appearing for now but it should block those posts. Some other apps have filter options that can block posts using certain words (such as lemmynsfw) so maybe that will be an option with Liftoff in the future
