The below work is hanging on my wall in canvas, and I had set out to the Ross Island bridge last night with the goal of besting it, but I’m not sure if I succeeded. I’m glad my style is changing though.

Your pictures are so much better when you approach a scene with a free hand. Everything you’ve posted since this has been exquisite. I wish I could see what you would have taken in this moment were you not attempting to replicate someone else’s picture.

Oh! That’s my own picture, captured back in October! I wanted to have a sunset vibe with the similar lit-up city effect, instead of a cloudy sky. I took both of them from the same spot, forty percent across the Ross Island bridge.

It’s me, Tanis Nikana, trying to improve upon the works of Tanis Nikana. I’m coverin’ my own album, I’m painting on my own Mona Lisa, and I guess I did alright, but I still like the original.

Let’s see, something with that scene, freely conceived and not just riffing my old work…

This was off to the right of that scene, down at the shore, and basically all the details of this image captivate me, the kids, the ruins, the vibe and the graffiti, even the crane and the structure. I love it so much. So many takes to get this one though.
