I was aware that sonic booms happen when something moves faster than the speed of sound, and found out that Cherenkov radiation is emitted is when something moves faster than light, and then I found out that beings fighting at the speed of light would ignite the atmosphere, so I got curious and asked what would happen to onlookers to a fight happening at the speed of light.

Yeah we’d all die, onlookers and everyone else.

Back in my day we used to read XKCD to learn that throwing a baseball at relativistic speeds would vaporize the pitcher and batter.

It’s worth pointing out that Cherenkov radiation occurs when something moves faster than light in a medium where light doesn’t travel at c. Nothing can travel faster than light in a vacuum without breaking all physics as we understand it.

Consulting with my own ass, none of that would happen, because of the Auth-Force. All fictional superheroes channel Auth-Force, which prevents consequences.

Real superheroes, of course, have to be careful.

Auth-force is another thing as well; how do they decide which laws of physics they’ll break? At certain points they’ll be like ‘radiation makes superheroes’ but then be like ‘pffft, going faster than light wouldn’t send you back in time, that’s just silly’

Kryptonians have a force field around them to prevent such things (also DC physics is different in that there are different fundamental forces.) While the saiyans can fight very fast, faster than a human can follow, they do not fight at the speed of light. And lastly viltrumites aren’t real.

While the saiyans can fight very fast, faster than a human can follow, they do not fight at the speed of light

I was curious about how speed can be measured (in these fictional settings) so as to explain how it’s calculated that they’re moving FTL, and the explanation was that they can travel between planets and moons faster than light travels; as for whether or not they’re FIGHTING at these speeds, admittedly there’s no way of proving this (unless there’s a principle you could see at play), additionally if they move faster than light, how can they see each other as they fight; even if they could sense one another, they can’t sense androids and they fight those guys in the main storyline

Ah, I actually didn’t know this one (I’ve never been a heavy DC reader)

(also DC physics is different in that there are different fundamental forces.)

Admittedly this is also true, as the speed force is also a thing that exists as a fundamental force in the DC-verse

To my knowledge, I do not believe anyone flies between planets without the aid of a some sort of spaceship in Dragon Ball (not counting instant transmission, because that’s not moving). So while there is FTL travel in universe, no one can achieve it without a machine and they wouldn’t be fighting at that speed.
