New here. Just wondered how i go about looking for communities on other instances. When I go to search the knly one it shows me for lemmy.world.
Also, how do I open lemmy links such as “liftoff@lemmy.world” on android without getting asked to open it in another app? Edit: nevermind, found out its a slightly issue and that it’s been worked on. I really should’ve spent a few extra seconds looking. I’ll leave it in case another new person sees it
A good starting point is to search lemmyverse.net/communities and then search for the community within Liftoff. If you find a community such as, say, “news” hosted at lemmy.world then search for !news@lemmy.world (including the !)

Thank yiu. I managed to search for a few and git some from other instances. No idea why it didn’t show them, unless its because I searched for destiny2, but when I searched destiny, some showed up.
Also, when trying to type in “!destiny2@lemmygrad.ml” it didn’t show up for me, as well as “!destiny2builds@lemmy.world” and those two I saw on pemmyverse.net/communities
When you search there’s a community tab, all communities across all instances are available. You can then join them and interact from your own instance.
Thank you, when I searched destiny2, that’s when they didn’t show up. But just using destiny showed some from other instances.
this seems to be the only way I can get this to work - if I search !privacyguides@lemmy.one in liftoff, nothing comes up. searching privacyguides@lemmy.one (no ‘!’) then it does come up via lemmy.world and I can’t subscribe since I’m not logged in through lemmy.world. pasting that link above to access through programming.dev (my ‘home’ instance?) allows me to subscribe through the liftoff app.
I think that’s an issue with liftoff, it works fine on the web.
gotcha, thanks for responding. I’ll get myself setup on the web then until thats sorted out.
