Douglas backed Lincoln over a full on abolition candidate because Douglas knew Lincoln had the better chance. Rustin was a gay man who never once pushed MLK to talk about gay rights. But we must have perfection right now!
This, the progressive branch simply isn’t realistic.
The goal should be medicare for all and trans rights
I always tell people to look at Frederick Douglas and Bayard Rustin.
