Because they are nocturnal, the daytime is for resting, but for a vulnerable, fluffy juvenile Spotted Wood owl, the world is full of potential threats like crows, raptors, or hornbills. So the mother keeps its dark, soulful eyes wide open to scan the surroundings while the owlet catches up on sleep.
