Mdma seems like a weird choice? Like, I get taking a stimulant, but I don’t think I would really want the serotonin dump. Having heightened levels of emotions and empathy would not be my go to when hunting literal children.

Even if they try they have no empathy or emotions associated with anything good.
MDMA is also something you can not really take on a very regular basis. Kinda pointless to take it every other week or even more often.
Maybe numb empathy has become their default so they use MDMA to feel normal when they’re off duty?
Most massacres and genocides in human history were done sober by a large fraction of the population. It seems like people are simply inherently capable of murdering children and being numb to the experience. I don’t know how easy it is to switch that on or off.
