Trump is a musical theater fan who dodged the draft, gossips about teen actors love lives, has never worked a day in his life, isn’t in shape and has no signifiers of masculinity. He gets to be the pinnacle of masculinity purely because he represents cruelty.

Likewise no matter how grizzled whoever the Dems put up is they will always be effeminate in comparison, no matter how many of their supposed criteria for masculinity they fulfill.

Beyond the dems, none of their political opponents can ever be real men. No socialist is anything but a (gay) effeminate loser, nothing but their unwillingness to be performative cruel will ever be considered.

love to categorize an entire group of people as hopelessly intrinsically bad here on my favorite leftist website

Hey real quick what’s your opinion of trans men

Hey real quick what’s your opinion of trans men

I remember seeing the “all he/hims on this website are misogynists” struggle session and this question made a lot of folks do morshupls levels of “well um er what i mean was uh” so maybe we’ll get the same argument that inevitably devolves into them doing a transphobia by making an exception for trans men

Yeah I think this is one brainworm that needs a bit more rooting out on this here hexed bear website (see: how many upvotes that original top-level comment got before it was removed).

But I’m hopeful we can improve! I’ve seen the site improve many of its brainworms over the years. Just takes time and persistent discussion (and good mods/admins, which we have lots of)!

I don’t see how this is a black mold incident at all. I do not like or feel safe around men, trans men are men, ergo I also do not like or feel safe around trans men.

Do you believe those that are misogyny affected are wrong to dislike or be distrustful of those who are misogyny exempt? Especially when it is transmisogyny specifically? In a similar vein, do you believe BIPOC are wrong to dislike and be distrustful of white people? Do you deny there is a societal dyanmic there where one group actively benefits from and enforces unfair social paradigms even if as individuals they do not directly intend to? It seems some mod does, as my original comment was sniped despite my repeated insistence I was not speaking from an essentialist position, but I would like to hear it from you.

            • They probably believe that, but have decided to “log off for a few weeks or months” after they posted an ultra-brainwormed tMRA screed in response to this comment chain and i took it apart so viciously that it must have scared them. Did the usual transmisogynist “i’m sorry you’re so triggered, but you’re a little dumdum who has not parsed the article like I, with my superior masculine high IQ berdly-smug” and refused to elaborate, maybe because they knew they could not say anything more without letting their mask slip or maybe they just know that i do not show mercy to TMEs, especially not when they’re pulling a very poorly disguised “not all men”.

I agree with what you’re saying but it’s also not responding to what they were saying

        • they’re saying all men will inevitably become cruel
        • they’re not saying men have a monopoly on cruelty

Still, their argument is bad and I have engaged them to try to identify a possible transphobic brainworm

they’re saying all men will inevitably become cruel

That’s not what they’re saying, though? They’re saying that masculinity, the socio-cultural construct, is upheld and performed through cruelty. In the dominant form of masculinity in Western culture, that is absolutely the case.

EDIT: Never mind, I missed something important.

            Direct quote

Wherever there are men, no matter how marginalized in any other aspects, they will always selfradicalize into violent misogynists

Editing to add another direct quote

There is no masculinity without misogyny.

I don’t think I’m doing gender essentialism at all. I think I’m doing gender abolitionism, just through correctly identifying which of these social castes is one built on the back of wanting to do oppression and which of them is a formation of being oppressed. Name one aspect of masculinity that isn’t inherently tied to the oppression of women.

I’m too nonbinary to think that there are any concrete aspects of masculinity. We’re in agreement here that it’s made-up social constructs all the way down.

Therefore, I also think it’s foolish to insist that all aspects of masculinity must be inherently toxic.

Yes because masculinity, as a social caste, is built around misogyny and the oppression of women. This is nothing to do with gender essentialism or bio essentialism. Doing misogyny is THE way to affirm your participation in the social caste of masculinity.
