Should we lower the official greymuzzle age to 30? It doesn’t matter, people are going to read/post anyway, but I saw some other groups have 30+ as their official age.

Im 50, but if there’s an actual age minimum, I’ll just leave. Greymuzzle should be the topic, not a description of who is allowed to participate in the topic. That would just be toxic not to allow people to interact just because they are too young. What would be the point of a topic about “share your wisdom” if you have alienated everyone that the wisdom is supposedly for?

We decided there’s no age minimum. If the young’uns want to talk about ancient memes, they are welcome.

I don’t think it much matters. Could even just remove the number altogether. If some 20 yr. old wants to discuss Saturday morning cartoons from the 80s and furry BBS from the dawn of the internet, no need to gatekeep that. :P

      Same feeling here.

As long as they don’t get “You’re too old” or become some drama queen, whatever.

i cry inside at the regrettable trope of the fandom thinking 30 is old/grey but of course it is better to be inclusive

any community with a demographic so heavily steeped in queer culture is going to skew young.

        Sure, of course.

But hopefully the proportion of actual old people in the fandom increases in our lifetimes now that we live in an epoch where queer folk have life expectancies closer to hetero folk. Not that greymuzzles will ever overtake younger fans, but the growing presence of greymuzzles will hopefully quell the “ew furries over 30 should retire from the fandom” rhetoric that appears on social networks every couple months or so.

And when that day comes we won’t have to classify thirty somethings as greymuzzles to encourage participation on our bootleg ***dit sub haha
