There’s no reason for software to be blazing fast under late stage capitalism dominated by monopolies.
Not saying that it’s right and I hate it, but optimizing for performance doesn’t make economical sense.
At it will get so, so much worse with AI coding. I’m kinda looking forward to it, the extremely absurd rise of hardware pricing, combined with unmaintainable slopinness of code made by AI, I’m pretty certain we will start hitting the performance frustration tolerance limit of people for major commonly used software. It was already before AI, stuff like Azure od Dynamics was attrocious to use, and it’s going to be extremely funny watchich the trainwreck. And with 80% of code being written by AI, fixing that mess will be almpst impossible, haha.
