This summer we celebrate the 40y wedding anniversary of my parents. With my siblings we prepared some slideshow and speech showing how our parents let us do pretty much anything in the garden outside (about 2000m², perks for living in the country side). We listed all the ways each of us almost died. We all made it safe and sound to adulthood and we are all competent adults now.
I believe over protection, excessive strictness, are detrimental to education. I fear for the younger generations that are not allowed to go outside without an active tracker on their phone. I have friends who do that to their kids.
It’s also so important to involve kids with households chores. There is nothing worst than having to deal with adults who can’t clean, cook, load the dishwasher, make phonecalls…
