Yeah I mean a small part of me even misses calling things “gay”. Not because they’re actually gay or because homophobes think it’s a bad thing thus an insult, but because it described something in a way that no other term has since. You didn’t casually call something gay because it was queer, you called it gay because it was a kind of lame, goody two-shoes thing. I don’t think we should bring back calling things gay, but I do miss having a word to describe that sentiment.
For me it started in 2001. The 90s were pretty rad.
The 90s were the peak of our society (thus far). We could have been a little less homophobic, but besides that, things were pretty great.
