I thought Rachel was pretty chill but looks like she’s the same as the rest. I followed her because she’s a journalist that goes after Canadian conservatives but this stunt is just embarrassing because how are you going to focus on “Russian propaganda” when the real issue was giving a Nazi a standing ovation in general. War or not this is a BAD look.

Also in a comment I made on a post about Vijay Prashad’s Tweet about the whole incident I mentioned a thread by a Canadian politician and I found it!

I stated in my comment that he had a grey check mark but I was mistaken. I guess because he was in the parliament my brain automatically added the check to his name as most government officials do.

“The dude unknowingly applauded who served in a Nazi military unit”

Oh he knew. You don’t announce someone as “fighting against the soviets in WW2” without everyone knowing exactly what that means. Also they can just say Nazi. If you volunteer to serve in a nazi military unit, you are by definition a Nazi. No need to be coy about the phrasing.

I shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but the fact that they are more worried about giving Russia propaganda fuel instead of the fact that they just celebrated a nazi says a lot. They aren’t upset at the act, only that they got called out on it and the truth looks bad for them.
