Alright, whomever asked for this feature you call Apple back right this instant and tell them you changed your dumb-assed mind about this useless feature! Thank you…
Just like on iPhone and Apple Watch, I’m sure there’ll be an option to turn it off.
I really Do NOT want to have to squeeze both sides of a monitor for 5 seconds to turn it off.
What is the advantage of that?
I would guess something like the “always on” displays in watches and phones - your computer could be off, but very low-power widgets could display the time or basic info.
Hope the webcam stays on too!
Just so it’s always on? What’s the point of this? So you can see the time?
So the time can see you
That’s interesting. I still have old 27" iMac from 2011 I sometimes use as an external display because it has this target display mode feature. But they got rid of that for some reason on newer models. Maybe this is one way they may bring it back?
Target display would be huge if they bring it back. I have a Mac Studio, but I’d pick up a new iMac just to use as a display and maybe some sort of server for the actual machine.
