I remember it opening in '99. It was an ugly intestinal maze when it was new. It was a frustrating, noisy, and tiring place to navigate.
Then it got tried and worn and tatty like an aging boomer hipster whom should have retired to a Whangamata bach years ago. Now it’s literally a shit hole.
There’s something wrong when a commercial landlord can sit on a decrepit $50m ruin and not apparently be bothered to rehabilitate it.
Makes for good company with the poor old St. James Theatre across the road.
