If you’re in charge of the government, and in 4 years from you not only be bothered to incarcerate someone who tried to overthrow the government, but also be fine with that person running for office again, you should not be in charge of the government.
I used to think there was The Constitution, aka the law of the land. And Congress made laws and controlled the purse strings within those Constitutional limits. While the Courts were there to make sure things were staying Constitutional. Having trump even run shows as clear as day that The Constitution does not matter anymore. And honestly, love it or hate it, it makes the future a tad more frightening.

That’s a broad question, but the short answer is that it’s not at all how I learned it worked in civics class
