[Question Of The Day] What are some of your WORSE #misheardlyrics ?
Me, singing on the top of my lungs as a kid, “AND NOOO MUSTACHE CAN DEFEND AND DEQUIVER!” - Michael Jackson “Man In The Mirror”
Literally didn’t know the real lyrics until I was in my 40s.

“ROCKET MAAAN! BURNING DOWN THE STREET UH HEAVEN NON!” - Elton John
@renwillis @alternativenation Mine has to be “Sugar Fried Honey Buns, you know that I want you!” to the song Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. I was 27 when I finally found out the real lyrics.
@jae @alternativenation to be fair, “sugar friend honey buns” sounds fucking delicious.
There’ll be a hot tub in the town of Berlin When the Yanks go marching in…
There’ll be a hot tub in the town of Berlin When the Brooklyn boys begin…
- Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters from the radio in Mafia 2
I later found out the song is called, “There’ll be a hot time in the town of Berlin” and it has nothing to do with hot tubs.
@SgtAStrawberry haha!
@renwillis @alternativenation
Dido - White FlagAfter 10+ years I still cannot hear anything other than “I will go down with this sh*t” instead of “ship”. I honestly think it adds the tiniest bit of metal to the song so I haven’t tried too hard to un-hear it.
@tinker @alternativenation ugh! now I have to go listen to Dido!! haha!
I always thought that the chorus to “Feed the World” was just
Peeeeeople, whoooooooaaa oooooohhhh
rather than, you know, the TITLE OF THE SONG. Well into my adult years.
And this one isn’t bad, especially given that it’s Michael Stipe, but…
It was only this year that I discovered the lyric in “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?” is
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
and not
You said all I needed was the shackles of you
@AcornCarnage lol amazing!! and yeah, I love michael stipe, but sometimes that mumbling (or in this case, distorted) vocals - nope, nothing!
Even though I know it’s wrong, I think my version of the lyric is a really good lyric. 😆
