This is on my calf. I’m excited to have one that I can actually see without having to contort myself in front of a mirror, and I can show off to people without getting half undressed

See, I love this style. I found it pretty hard to get artists to go for this sort of sketchy, hand drawn aesthetic. I mean, I do get it, they’ve worked their entire lives to be good at drawing, but I like the sort of free hand, “poorly” drawn style. Of course, it’s not poorly drawn, it’s a style choice, but it’s pretty damn hard to get tattoo artists to see it that way. I’ve had mixed results

The artist I went to was like “I’ll get that cleaned up for you” and I had to explain to them that I specifically did not want the lines cleaned up. Apparently it was her first time doing the sketchy look like this and she was very clear about that. Had her go for it anyway got to start somewhere and she did a great job

Wild right? Every single artist I’ve gone to I’ve had to explain this aesthetic. The only one I ever found that naturally did this type of look…was unfortunately an addict and the shop fired her before I could get any work done from her. The others made a go of it and did a pretty decent job or hey naturally cleaned it up. I’m still happy with all the work I’ve gotten, but it seems like such a strange thing! I mean, they know expressionist artists, I’m sure. Why are watercolors so popular, but this look so strange? Fuck my shit up!
