Biden could have showed up to offer his support to the striking teachers.

The most pro-labor president, ladies and gentlemen.

He’s cancelling the speech so as to not cross the picket line. In support of the union.

Unless Biden is seeking to employ himself he’s not crossing the picket line.

If I bring bottled water to the strikers I am not crossing the picket line.

If Biden parks himself among the strikers and tells them as president that striking is their right and that it is the American way, he is NOT crossing the picket line.

        Enough gaslighting.

You seriously have no idea what you are talking about. Biden is not canceling his trip to Pennsylvania, he is just not speaking at the convention. The people on strike are the administrative staff for the NEA that is hosting the conference, and they have thanked him for “respecting our picket line and upholding union values!”

The revised agenda for his trip has not been announced, but that’s hardly surprising with everything involved in last minute planning of a presidential visit. It’s almost certain though that he will meet with the union.

Biden should have showed up, not to an auditorium, but to the street where the strikers are. Stood there shoulder to shoulder with them and offered his support. Too risky? Send Harris to support the strikers.

Biden’s passivity and inaction is not some massive pro-labor gesture.

Like I said, Biden is still going, so there is no “inaction”. The agenda just hasn’t been announced. Do you have any clue what’s involved in putting the President on the street with workers? We know it can be done because Biden has done it before, unlike every president before him. However, it’s not something that an administration is going to be able to announce on a whim the moment his plans need to change. Seriously, get a fucking clue.

If Biden’s security is too difficult, there are ways for the office of the President to send a signal. Besides Harris, a White House spokesperson can show up. Then Biden can go on TV and support the strikers from his White House office. Like a one two punch.

Ways like announcing his support of the union and intention to still go despite the canceled speech? Yeah, he did that. Harris could go, sure, but Biden is going.

I never said his security is “too difficult”. I just takes time to work out the details and plan where he will go, how long he will be there, and how he will be protected. There is no need for him to announce specifics at right this fucking second anyways. Again, Biden is the only President who has ever walked a picket line with workers.

I seriously don’t think you can be as dumb as you pretend. Another agenda is at play.

Biden has gone against the railroad strike in the past and I have not forgiven that.

I thought the last time Biden appeared on TV was the ABC News interview. Did I miss another appearance? I apologize if I did.

I am going to demand the world from my president. Always.

They’re not gaslighting. Did you read the article, or just the headline?

Mr. Biden’s campaign said he would not do so, either. “President Biden is a fierce supporter of unions and he won’t cross a picket line,” a statement from his campaign said, adding that the president was still planning to travel to Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Biden would not be “crossing the picket line” if he showed up IN SUPPORT of a strike!

I don’t care who says otherwise. If Biden says otherwise he is lying.

The president’s position was quickly cheered by the staff union, which declared on X: “Thank you, @JoeBiden for respecting our picket line and upholding union values!”

Holy shit dude…. Just stop. It’s been explained you you SO many times.

It’s clear that you’re one of those “facts don’t matter more than my feelings” types of people. But you MUST know that denying facts that are laid out right in front of you gives off some serious MAGA vibes.

Obviously you’re acting in bad faith here, but for anyone else that sees this chain and thinks hypnoton over here isn’t full of it, here’s the first two paragraphs of the article. Long story short, he was set to give a speech at a convention, workers went on strike and everyone involved is doing the exact same thing as Biden.

A strike by the staff of the nation’s largest teachers’ union has prompted President Biden to cancel a speech on Sunday in Philadelphia, where he was scheduled to address thousands of delegates to the union’s annual convention.

The staff union of the National Education Association began its strike on Friday, citing management’s revocation of holiday overtime pay for the Fourth of July holiday and its refusal to provide information on $50 million in outsourced work that may have previously been done by N.E.A. staff. The strike has shut down the last three days of the four-day convention, as delegates declined to cross a picket line.
