Just a heads up,

My instance is dedicated to people who speak one of the Scandinavian languages and this is stated as one of the requirements when applying for an account. Never got any applications in English.

The last hour we’ve received several applications in English for the first time ever. I’m not comfortable doing screenshot, in the off chance that they’re real applications.

They’re in the format Flower/Womans name+numerical value. Some talk about coming from reddit and wanting to explore this new social network. Another claims they want to access worldnews@lemmy.ml as a reason for applying.

We’re not lemmy.ml. No mention of the specific instance they’re applying to. Since lemmy.ml dwarfs my instance in internet mentions, it would seem reasonable that any generated text would mention bigger instances but not mine.

This seems so out of the ordinary, ignorant of the written application rules and timed just after instances started combating bot signups that I assume they’re artificially written, generic applications.

Updated, got the mentioned instances wrong.

Update 2: Got another application in English while writing this. The language is so formal, it’s basically “In light of recent events at reddit, I wish to join this here community in a search of a renewed sense of satisfaction and pleasure”. I can’t believe it’s not killer bot AI.
