  • The us subsidies started off good then of course the farmers capitalised on that to the point that the subsidies where no longer necessary (or necessary to be that heigh). Then of course the politicians couldn’t role it back cos they would lose votes so they kept funding it. Now we are left with an excess of corn that is extremely cheap (supply demand etc etc) so now everyone is trying to figure out a way to capitalise on the abundance of a cheap resource.

    Its a perfect example of how the free market and populist politicians can cause the misalignment of incentives.
