In super short context its a far right ideology brought to mainstream politics by notable figures like Pinochet, Ronald Reagan and Margret Thatcher. Later embraced by Bill Clinton during the neoliberal takeover of the democratic party at the time when they turned their backs on the unions and people in favor of corporations and bankers.
