Lucy Connolly, from Northampton, was jailed for 31 months in October after calling for “mass deportation now” and urging her followers on X to “set fire” to hotels housing asylum seekers.

They are just entitled idiots who don’t live in the real world. She literally just tried to use the “but I’ve got black friends” defence.
It’s just baseline casual racism combined with the belief that things said online don’t really count. I doubt she would dare be that racist in person, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t racist, it just means she’s in denial. Maybe some court mandated counselling would have been in order.
