I’m excited to try the EEVEE shadow terminator control, i had some problems with this previously.
Also, it seems they added the possibility to search for the name of property instead of the name of the node itself in node editors (for example, searching “Add” will show “Converter -> Math -> Add” instead of nothing). I admit that i frequently searched for the math operations instead of just math, and this will be way simpler for me now.
Hands down the new ultra-fast, ultra-accurate manifold boolean modifier. I use that in like 90% of my work (3d printing) so it’s a godsend.
Ooh yeah, it seems dope ! Faster than the old fast method and as accurate as the exact method seems like a very good option.
The addition of vulkan can’t be overstated. It blew several bottlenecks wide open. And I really need to get in to nodes. Lol but every new release brings newer better ones and I seem to keep falling further and further behind. Cgmatter is always showing off beta ones and I’m all like ooooh I can’t wait till that’s out. Then it is and the cycle starts again.
Not really, every time I update my blender version they change something fundamental, a hotkey thats been that way for a decade, theyrearrange a portion of the UI. Instead of just focusing on bug fixes, blender is in this weird state of always adding new stuff, or completely refactoring things to the point that it breaks stuff. I honestly stick with releases as long as possible until im sure there’s a stable release that has worked out the worst bugs. In the last year or two, I think I’ve jumped 2 major blender versions, (beause i was forced to by a plugin i was using) without any significant improvement, but rather more bugs, deprecation of stuff that nobody asked to be deprecated.
In all honesty, I dislike the blender development community almost as much as I love blender itself. Its so disjointed.
All this maybe comes from my own involvement in software, so I dislike that there is so much dissunity in the project direction.
But, I digress, people want new flashy stuff, not just bug fixes, stability, and performance improvements I guess. Maybe im too cautious of a developer myself.
I kinda feel you, tbf the shadow terminator i like to see solved was introduced by the new EEVEE version not so long ago. Blender is indeed like an entangled ball of wool with threads going in every direction, so it gets frustrating some times. But on the plus side, you can do many many things with it !
This 4.5 is a long term release, so maybe it’ll be the one that works out the bugs that bugs you !
