minus-squareDeath_Equity@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·6 days agoI’m calling it for Bacerra as the new governor.

minus-squarejordanlund@lemmy.worldMlinkfedilinkarrow-up6·6 days agoI’d like to see Katie Porter, but we’ll see. Money doesn’t necessarily dictate the winner, see: Meg Whitman vs. Jerry Brown in 2010. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-jerry-brown-beat-meg-whitman-in-california/ Or Carly Fiorina vs. Barbara Boxer in the Senate the same year. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/california-election-results-how-barbara-boxer-bucked-a-national-trend-by-beating-carly-fiorina/
minus-squarereturn2ozma@lemmy.worldOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up3·6 days agoWhitman and Fiorina both are Republicans. They didn’t stand a chance. I wish Porter would win but Eleni is the establishment “chosen one”. Look at the endorsements: https://eleniforca.com/endorsements/
minus-squareDeath_Equity@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·6 days agoMaybe, I think a push for Hispanic representation will be a stronger force with the deportations and Baccera has better qualifications. The last Hispanic governor of California was in like 1899, so that is a pretty strong bit of leverage in a state with a 40% Hispanic population.
